What to do Next

Now That You Have Made a Commitment to the LORD

The decision to give your life to the Lord and invite Him into your life is the most important choice you will ever make!    What do you need to do now to follow through on your commitment?

First become part of a good church family.   Choose a church that has good pastors and leaders, that believes in the Bible, in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and where the Holy Spirit is present.  Choose a church that is loving and “family like” and has a genuine interest in you as a person.  It helps to have a church close to where your live, but be willing to “go the distance” to find what you need.   Someone has likened the church to logs in a fire place; if there is only one log on the fire it is going to go out.  Where there are two or more the flame will burn warm and bright.  Jesus said, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them.”

Begin to read the Bible.  If you don’t have a Bible,  please ask one of the pastors or ushers at Christ the Rock and we will give you one.  Begin to read first in the New Testament, perhaps the Gospel of John or the Gospel of Mark.  If you don’t understand something ask the Lord to help you or ask one of the pastors or leaders.  After reading one of the Gospels read the Book of Acts, then maybe the Book of Romans.  You might also want to read some in the Book of Psalms or the Book of Proverbs (Old Testament).  The Holy Spirit will help you understand what you are reading.  Our faith is strengthened by the written Word of God, The Bible.

Pray daily.  Prayer is simply talking to the Lord about your needs, your problems, your questions.  After we talk to the Lord He will often speak to our hearts and He will answer our prayers.   Ask the Lord to show you the right thing to do and He will lead you by His Holy Spirit.

Get involved in a Bible study or class through your church where you can learn about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and how to follow Him on a daily basis.  This will strengthen your faith and enable you to have a happy and healthy life.

If you were addicted to alcohol or drugs, if you have been abused, or if you have been through a divorce or had a broken relationship, you would probably benefit from being in a Christian support group.  Jesus wants to heal our broken hearts and help us have healthy and happy relationships.   Ask your pastor or one of the church leaders for information.

We are glad you have committed your life to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We are here to help in any way we can.  Please feel free to contact us at (425) 745-4535 or email us at ctrf@ctrf.com.
